About this Bake

This was a cake for young girl's colourful birthday party. The vanilla citrus sponge was coloured in small batches and baked in thin layers. The buttercream frosting was violet flavoured and decorated with dry edible flowers.

Top tip

Dried and pressed real edible flowers should be applied to buttercream when cold and shortly before presenting the cake. The longer the flowers are on the cake the more moisture they will pick up and they will rehydrate and wrinkle.
