About this Bake
This cake is my daughter's birthday cake this year. Every year she makes a drawing of what she wants and then I figure out how to make it happen. This gothic graveyard bake is a five-layer cake with vanilla buttercream. The tombs are cinnamon vanilla sugar cookies with royal icing.
Top tip
Take a basic cake and sugar cookie recipe and add fall flavours (cinnamon, pumpkin spice, etc) to make them seasonal. Bake sponges and decorations the day before. Then, on the day of the party, there is just the cake assembly.
