About this Bake
My vegan Black Forest cake features three layers of dark chocolate cake, sweet and sour cherry compote, and whipped cream frosting. It's adorned with dark chocolate shards and fresh cherries.
Top tip
To ensure my layers are perfectly baked, I do three tests. I insert a skewer and ensure it comes out clean. I check that the sides of the cake are beginning to pull away from the sides of the pan. Finally, I press down gently on top of the layer with one finger and ensure the cake springs back up.
