About this Bake
This was a vanilla-flavoured sponge. Half the strawberries and place onto a kitchen towel to soak up all moisture before placing onto the cake.
Top tip
Ensure the butter is at room temperature (soft to the touch) before mixing, to prevent the buttercream from curdling or having a gritty texture. To fix gritty buttercream add a splash of hot water or milk and beat until the mixture is smooth.
