About this Bake
I made this for a 30th birthday - three layers of sponge cake with strawberry jam. Vanilla sponge (with red food colouring), lemon sponge and chocolate sponge covered with chocolate butter icing and topped off with freeze dried strawberry!
Top tip
Take your time with baking cakes - if not in a rush, I knock off the oven 2 mins end of baking time and let cake cool in the oven to reduce potential shrinkage or cracking. Only tried with gas oven.
