These chick biscuits not only look extra cute, but taste delicious, with a melt-in-the-mouth texture. The dough is made with an unusual ingredient – a hard-boiled egg yolk, which helps gives them an egg-stra rich taste.

Method
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C/160°C fan/350°F/Gas 4.
Step 2
Bring a large pan of water to the boil and carefully lower in the eggs using a slotted spoon.
Step 3
Boil rapidly for 8 minutes.
Step 4
Remove the eggs from the water using the slotted spoon and plunge into a bowl of ice-cold water.
Step 5
For the biscuit dough, add the butter and icing sugar to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment and beat together until pale and fluffy. Sieve in the flour and cornflour.
Step 6
Peel the shell from the hard-boiled eggs, then peel away the white from the yolk. Discard the white and the shell.
Step 7
Press the egg yolks through the sieve and scrape off any remains from the sieve into the dough.
Step 8
Add in the vanilla extract and salt and beat together carefully until the dough begins to come together.
Step 9
Tip the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and knead to bring together.
Step 10
Take a small piece of dough, about the size of a cherry, and colour it orange. Set aside until ready to use as the beak for each chick.
Step 11
Roll out the rest of the dough to the thickness of a £1 coin and cut out 6 ovals.
Step 12
Using a small sharp knife, cut out little wing shapes from the trimmings. You will need 12 wings.
Step 13
Place the ovals on a lined baking tray and press two wings onto either side of each oval.
Step 14
Using the orange-coloured dough, roll out little beak shapes and attach them to the chicks using a dab of water.
Step 15
Transfer to the freezer for 10 minutes.
Step 16
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until just turning a pale brown around the edges.
Step 17
Once baked, remove from the oven and place on a wire rack to cool.
Step 18
For the decoration, melt the white chocolate in short bursts in a microwave.
Step 19
Dip the lower half of each chick into the chocolate, then transfer to a lined tray to set.
Step 20
Melt the dark chocolate chips in short bursts in the microwave, then transfer to a piping bag.
Step 21
Snip a tiny bit off the end of the piping bag, then use the chocolate to pipe eyes, the outline of the wings, outline of the shell and cracks in the shell.
