About this Bake
This cake is made of shortcrust pastry encasing layers of tagliatelle, almonds, sugar cubes and honey. My UK friends call it "the pasta cake", but it is typical of the provinces of Ferrara and Mantua in Italy, where my family traditionally bakes it for All Souls' Day.
Top tip
Add almond-based liqueur just after it's out of the oven.
