About this Bake
I made this cake for a friend's little boys 5th birthday. It is a 12" x 8" madiera sponge with rasberry preserve and vanilla buttercream. He was having a pirate party and loved the cake, I also made 40 cupcakes to match.
Top tip
The easiest way to make the lid is from rkt (rice krispie treats) mould it in a suitable dish then cut to shape and size. Also make a wedge to hold up the lid with this too.
