About this Bake
A fancy four-layer cake, filled with kirsch whipped cream, covered in soured vanilla buttercream, topped with black cherries in kirsch, lined with chocolate shards and finished with a light dusting of cocoa powder and gold leaf.
Top tip
When making the cake batter, carefully fold (not beat!) in the dry ingredients (in this bake - the flour, baking powder and cocoa powder), to ensure minimal gluten formation for a light, spongy cake.
