Coolheaded Kimberley on what inspired her to bake…
What first inspired you to bake?
A sweet tooth, hunger, and an independent streak that says ‘I could do that’.
What has been your biggest baking disaster ever?
I’ve been trying to perfect a banana fudge loaf recipe for a while. Several banana flavoured bricks later… I’ll get there one day.
And your baking triumph ever?
A salted caramel and dark chocolate tart with gold-plated praline for my friend Cat’s 50th birthday. She was thrilled and that was what mattered.
How does the presence of Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry affect your nerves in the kitchen?
In a bizarre way, I quite liked it. I’m really interested in their thoughts about what I’m making and keen to gain from their knowledge and experience. Whatever they have to say helps me to be a better baker.
Which past Bake Off contestants have impressed you the most and why?
Danny Bryden. Juggling a full-time job and participation in GBBO is no mean feat. She is a cake warrior!
What is your biggest fear in the kitchen? No fear, just fun.
