Say hello to a fresh batch of bakers… this is the class of 2018.

The last tent peg has been hammered into place. The ovens, fridges and mixers are switched on and primed for action. The teapot’s had a good wash. The squirrel’s been shooed into place.

To celebrate the launch of Bake Off: The Professionals on Sunday 6th May, The Great British Bake Off’s social team handed over the reins of its Twitter account to ex-baker and new Professionals host Liam Charles. He spent his time at our virtual helm answering your questions (some more insightful than others), chewing the fat and making some pretty tough decisions that were thrown at him by the Twittersphere. Here are the 10 most important things we learned.

All professional patissiers are accomplished at the art of crafting miniature pastries, bite-sized confectionery and teeny-tiny treats. In that spirit, we asked Bake Off: The Professionals hosts Liam Charles and Tom Allen to answer a quick-fire round of miniature questions.

For a professional pastry chef, baking isn’t just a passion, it’s their life’s work. Presiding over the challenges set for our chef duos on Bake Off: The Professionals are Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden – two world-renowned patissiers who have mastered the art of sugar-spun perfection, and are descending on the Bake Off kitchen to critique and celebrate their craft as they search for the finest sweet treats in the country.

Bake Off: The Professionals is coming, taking precision with pastry to a whole new level. Joining 12 teams of professional pastry chefs battling it out for the approval of judges Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden will be hosts Tom Allen and Liam Charles (who Bake Off fans will no doubt remember from series eight of The Great British Bake Off). Here they are to give us a run-down of the show and a heads-up on what to expect.
