Bringing some stateside flavour to the tent is American actor John Lithgow. He’s got more showbiz awards than you could shake a wooden spoon at, but how does he feel about swapping the glitz and glamour of Hollywood for the piercing gaze of our very own Mr. Paul Hollywood?

Appearing in the tent will be outrageous comedian Russell Brand, also known as one half of the ‘Goth Detectives’ alongside fellow funnyman and real-life pal Noel Fielding. So it’s safe to say we can expect a healthy measure of baking-related banter between them.

Like a crisp crème brûlée, New Year’s resolutions are made to be broken. But the GBBO bakers showed us their resolutions for 2019 and their ambitions inspired us to make some of our own.

In keeping with the spirit of Christmas, our judges decided to go easy on the bakers and let them off the Technical.
